Calipers are exactly the same as the factory Cobra part, just with a different paint job (the Cobra calipers were sold out). Just big 2-piston PBRs with 13" vented rotors and a set of HPS pads. |

"really going all out" would've involved a set of 14" 4-piston Stoptechs (a bargain at only $2000+! :p), but then I'd have to switch to 18" wheels. |

#3, ah. You're trying to make your badass, while staying inside certain guidelines then. Sweet. |

#4, Just mild dual-purpose street/track, really. If I really wanted to go insane, I could go a lot further, but I don't see much point in doing that. |

I ended up parked next to a '03-'04 Cobra last night. I want its brakes so much, but I can't justify the money right now and I don't know if my whells would clear them. |

They're pretty good. It's been wet out since I 2kota put them on, so I haven't really been able to test them yet, though. I really need stickier tires; these Kumhos work fine in Florida where the pavement gets really hot, but they're too hard for Washington. I anticipate that I'll feel the biggest difference in high-speed stops; I could easily lock my ~11" factory brakes below 30 mph if I really wanted to.
snake, have you contemplated maybe just putting some decent lines and more aggressive pads on your existing brakes? Even cheap aftermarket pads, like the Hawk HPS (street) I use, can give you a little boost in stopping power, plus they tend to offer better modulation than the factory crap. |

When it comes time to change the pads those will probably be the ones that go in, maybe stainless lines depending on how huge a PITA it'd be.
e: How did the kuhmos treat you in the rain? It seems like I get wheelspin going into second whatever I do in the rain. I've got some bullshit ultra HPRs or something.

The Kumhos were OK in Florida, but I think they're too hard a compound for up here. Not enough bite when it's cold out. I can get wheelspin in (not shifting into, IN) third gear on some of the pavement around here, but I've also got short gears and plenty of mid-range torque.

Nothing. Once I get some tires on this thing, I'll attend a couple of HPDEs and take it from there; I haven't had the combination of time and mechanical reliability to drive the car the way it's meant to be used.
Every modification I've done, though, fits within NASA American Iron rules, so if I ever decide to take it off the street, it wouldn't take too much work to legalize it for AI/AIX* competition.
*Probably barely on the AI side of the 9.5:1 lbs:hp rule that forces cars into AIX.

Few. There are probably a couple, but as with all Mustang owners, the majority of the V6 crowd does not care what happens beyond 1320'. |

#12, Figures. Not familiar with any of the NASA guidelines, just know there's no cool series for my car which is why I stick with SCCA...and why I need a new car. |

SCCA's rulebook is awfully restrictive, from what I've read. NASA tends to be a little more liberal with rules and classing, so depending on what you drive, you might be surprised. |

I think the SC plumbing might get in the way. :( |

#16, Exactly why I run stock - no STS STS2 ST P SP M SM X T N classing to deal with.
I can't upgrade basic things such as springs or rotors either without getting bumped up to a more competitive group.
Gotta go read those NASA rules now. |
