The only Ford 427 that comes to mind immediately is the cobra jet, would that be what this is?

Okay, I'll answer. This is the legendary 600+ horsepower 427 SOHC, better known as the Cammer. One of these in an original GT40 is my dream car.

Why did they call the 427 a "side oiler"? Does anyone know?

Okay, allow me to retract that statement. It won't fit in an unmodified engine bay.

Think of what you'd have to do to the front suspension. This thing can't be light.

besides i think you can fit a 460 in a Mustang engine bay with only changing a few small things so i'm guessing as long as this block isn't wider then a 460 its all good
