Description:
Steamboy, from the director of Akira.

This movie was in production for 8 years and cost $26 million to make, making it the most expensive Japanese animated movie ever.

This movie is bloody fantastic, IMO... an amazing visual treat. Feast for the eyes.

I watched the subititled Japanese dub, however, so I can't say how good the English track is.

#1, Anna Paquin of all people voiced the main character, Patrick Stewart played the grandfather and Alfred Molina voiced the father. Needless to say it was very well done voice wise. And this movie was a welcome respit from the usual techno punk nonsense Japan had been turning out, I truly enjoyed it

I preferred the dubbed version. There was just something really fucked up about seeing 19th century Brits speaking in Japanese.

#3, That's sorta like how I actually watched some of Gunsmith Cats in the English dub since it takes place in Chicago, and it was a pretty decent dub to boot. I had no choice in THIS matter though, since it was not a DVD, it was on Starz, more specifically, Starz Cinema which usually airs movies in letterbox, and if the movie is foreign, they air the original dub with English subtitiles. I still usually prefer subbed over dubbed though.

#2, Yeah, I'm a big fan of the so-called "steampunk" genre of sci-fi, like this and Trigun. Very cool.

Ok, well I have since seen most of the English Dub when Starz aired on their more mainstream channels... it was pretty decent... I didn't like how it was edited shorter...

...and honestly, Patrick Stewart, even though he is unbeliveably awesome and all that jazz, was just the wrong choice to voice the grandfather... the grandfather needs to sound old and desperate at some points, and that just doesn't sound right with Stewart's booming voice. Alfred Molina was perfect though.

#12, Or just scrolled up. It's not like it's a multiple-page thread or anything.
