As I often ask on here, what happened to this car? Funny how these 2000s era extreme customs of sought after sports and tuner cars always disappear

#2, Common story. Take a $50k car. Invest $50k in custom modifications. Wind up with a $25k car.

From that point it could be an accident, owner losing interest, or selling the car at a huge loss if there's a cash crunch. The car may have someone try to rescue it by attempting to return it vaguely to stock, or it may just be abandoned... in a junkyard, barn, storage rental unit, airport long-term parking...

The worst fate seems especially common with old lowriders. You can find tons of pictures of junked ones online, many of them having clearly had a lot of money invested in them at some point.

I still wonder what became of my uncle's Marina Blue '67 Corvette 427 Tri-Power 4-speed coupe.
He bought it new, spent 30+ years modifying it into a street-legal club racer with the original block bored out, Tri-Power carb setup sold off, 4-speed replaced with a Richmond 5-speed, body widened with fender flares, cowl hood, pop-up lights faired in with clear plastic covers in a custom front end shaped for better aerodynamics, quad exhaust and custom wide wheels front and rear. 500+ hp when he sold it.
It went through at least two owners after him and last I heard the person wanted to undo everything he did and restore it to stock for that sweet Barrett-Jackson auction money. A car like that will never be "original" again no matter how much you spend.
