As much as it pains me to admit it, I think this started life as a '66 or '67 Dodge Charger. The rear portion of the roofline and the top parts of the quarter panels are just too similar to overlook.

Based on another angle of this car being posted elsewhere on the site and identified as a 1974 Ford Taunus GXL, I did a GIS for "1974 Taunus." A picture of this very car came up.
