This was a refrence to the MST3K episode where they watch Eegah, btw not Snakes on a Plane.

#9, I didn't mean that they made a movie based on an existing internet phenom. I meant they created the movie in order to create an internet phenom and therefore a large audience of drooling lemmings.

#13, Ehhh....supposedly it was originally going to be a minor film in their summer lineup and was considered for direct-to-DVD release, even then with a different title (Snakes on a Plane was originally just the working title, it was going to be called something like Pacific Flight 130 at one point).
The internet buzz was pretty unexpected, but since then they've done all they can to ride it and listen to what the fans want....honestly, they'd be crazy not to.
