1989 Chevrolet 1500 Stepside

Good condition

I paid $4000 for it. Its value, realistically, is probably somewhere around $3000. |

1993 SAAB 9000 CSE (non-turbo)
175,000 miles
Good condition, maybe. The cruise and ABS don't work, and I dented the driver's door after owning it a week.
Trade-in: $1,325
Private Party: $2,515
Retail: $4,220
I paid $2600 for it 3 years and 70k miles ago. Drove 3 hours each way, twice, to buy it and then pick it up. Left future wife stranded at train station to take cab ride from hell. Bought a manual that would end up as our only car -- and she can't drive stick. She and this car have quite a "history." Afraid to sell it and buy another car, for fear newer car wouldn't be as reliable. |

kbb is terrible with g-body or specialty cars - my '86 Monte Carlo SS is only $1640 in good or excellent condition for private party...
street value is much higher than that - I paid $4400 for mine...
and expect to pay more for one in mint condition with decent mileage.. the insurance company loves the kbb to screw you out of money if you have to file a claim
my '91 Caprice with only 71k mile they put at $1840 private party - they usually go higher than that - I've seen ones with 150k miles selling for $2500 on-up

My Chrysler would probably fetch about $600 for a trade in, $800 retail and about $1,000 to a private party in the state it's in now. I paid $1500 for it almost three years ago and have put about 25K miles on the odometer, so I can't expect much more. It's got dings dents scratches and some rust, no horn, and the starter's almost shot but it's got a new battery, new terminals, newer distributor cap, wires, plugs, brand new tires, ball joints and tie rods. Not to mention a pretty mint interior with a new head unit and functioning rear amp.
The Burban, I really don't know, with the body complete and painted I could get around $5000 easy but as it is now I'd probably get about a third of that. The engine's clean and runs and drives fine, I've got new heavy duty springs and gas magnum shocks, and the tires still have alot of life left. The body is in fair condition, I need to get the floor pans in and paint the primer and buff out the big tailgate dent but the suspensions solid. |

#30, There was a 1990 (or so) saab 900 with only 15 miles (not 15k, fifteen miles) in brand-new condition. It was for sale for $15,000, not an unreasonable number, but kbb said like $3,000. I might have bought it given the opportunity, but if I got in an accident, insurance would pay out black-book value. |
