Posted this on the Forums...

Camped with my friend for a Wii.

Showed up at the store at noon yesterday, we were actually second in line (not second and third since I wasn't getting one)

I had nothing better to do, so I decided to keep her company, and it was only gonna be 12 hours...

The place we camped out was getting 29, and this area doesn't have many gamers, so we figured it wouldn't get camped out too bad... we were right... they only hit 29 people at about 6 pm. But it's good we got in early since my friend got first crack at accessories and Zelda (they only had 15 copies of Zelda, and most people in line were wanting to get it)... she bought the Wii, THREE extra controllers and nunchucks, and of course Zelda... we got it back to her parents place at 12:15, and set-up the Wii, then played Sonic the Hedgehog (Virtual Console), Wii Sports, and I watched her play Zelda... holy crap it was fun as hell... (I didn't get back home until around 4am. God I'm tired)

She kicked my ass at Wii Tennis, then kicked my ass at bowling... then I beat her at Golf and Boxing... we played bowling again and I finally did decently.

The people in line were pretty cool, most of them were there to get a Wii to actually HAVE it and play it, not to resell it.

I'm definitely gonna get a Wii soon... but it might take as long as March, since I have a bunch of expenses coming up and whatnot.

I'm oddly amused at the fact that Sony's launch titles were so incredibly mediocre, the Gundam game looked like it moved at about 5 fps. I know that not many new console's have first year games that knock anyone's socks off, but it's like "C'mon Sony!" I was dissillusioned by the reviews of Red Steel, but I find that the online publications that reviewed the game tended to be whiny little shits. Oh, and Twilight Princess is looking very secksy.

Watched my friend play Twilight Princess for about 4 or 5 hours... it was simply gorgeous, and looks very entertaining and enjoyable... even though I, myself, have never actually played a Zelda game.

#4, Plus, the Virtual Console will have much more choices by then... at launch there were only 10 titles available. But damn Sonic WAS a fun trip down nostalgia lane.

#4, I find it a good idea to usually wait a year after the console's launch to procure one, usually by then they have the online component setup, the firmware and software updates ready to go, the technical problems fixed, and a few good 3rd party launch titles out the door.

#5, Until Ocarina of Time I never played a Zelda game, but after I smote my first Deku shrub I became an instant fan

#7, Somebody actually got shot at a Wal-Mart when two armed men approached him while he was waiting in line for a PS3 and there were numberous fights and disturbances reported as well. All so they could play slightly prettier WW2 games...

#10, Katamari Damacy. Played it. Can't quite get the control scheme down. I honestly don't have fun playing it.

But DAAAAAAMN, watching that game being played by someone who's good at it... that's just a hoot.
