I found it to be a decently entertaining movie, with some pretty good creepiness here and there (the ice-cream truck driving around with blood all over it being particularly notable)

The ending was entirely weak though... yeah, let's have the epilogue be two sentences flashed on the screen right before the credits roll, and let's insert a joke about a "weather satellite" being armed with nuclear warheads while we're at it...

#1, I vididly remember being fucking scary of the promotional posters of this in a Toronto video store. It was in a basement but just below street level. It was bright and sunny outside. My mom was paying for a video AND THIS FUCKING GREEN FACE WAS GOING TO EAT ME!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAh!

Read the Stephen King short story "Trucks" I believe it's in his "Night Shift" collection. Quite the good story, no real sense of closure but then again it is Stephen King.

#3, Yes, I know where the story originated, and unlike most film adaptations of King's work, this movie WAS directed by the man himself... which probably goes to show he should stick to writing.

...and there was another film adaptation of the story, this time USING the name "Trucks" as the title, and it was pure B-movie shlock... it was even worse than Maximum Overdrive.

#4, I knew there was a Trucks movie, and I knew it was pretty horrid. But I thought Maximum Overdrive was just a cheap ripoff of the story, I didn't know King had much, if anything, to do with it. I'm not much of an Emilio fan, am I?

By his own admission, Stephen King was high on cocaine the entire time he was making this movie. I think it shows.
