For future reference (and anyone who didn't read it in today's Free Post), this minitruck broke down in front of my house after backfiring rapidly. The driver started kicking the tires, then removed the tire and started doing something presumably to the rear brake drum (?).

After a while, some guys in a white Ranger stopped to talk to him. They chatted for a while.

This picture was taken from upstairs just as they were backing up...the jackasses had been parked totally sideways in the road, with the front of their truck facing the house.

The thread picture was taken from my bedroom window just after they left. Whatever the guy was doing, it must've worked: He restarted the truck and it seemed to be running fine. He turned around and drove off in the other direction.

And for the record, I know these pictures aren't very good.

#2, I was expecting the Ranger to have dubs and be half primer or something.

#3, Nah, just some plain later model Ranger.

I've seen this red minitruck around several times before. It seems to be in pretty decent shape, even though the customization is tacky and the owner drives it like a dipshit.

#6, They looked like the "flat fives" I used to have on my Camaro, except they looked sorta like they had a GMC logo in the center.

#7, From looking at the pictures, it appears he was changing the tire. He seems to have a different wheel on the back in the "tools leaving" photo.

The "backfiring" I heard (it wasn't really that loud) I suppose could have been a flat tire, although the tire didn't look flat when was first out kicking it.

Tread separation, maybe?

This truck is now parked at the fire station up the road with "For Sale" signs in the windows. All the side graphics have been removed, but I'm sure it's the same truck.
