How to spot a GM-made car: it has [at least] two versions that are so similar that you can't tell the difference when the grille badge is removed.

#1, Yes, because no other carmaker has ever rebadged cars so shallowly... especially not Toyota (Celsior/LS400, bB/xB/Materia, etc) or Nissan (Primera/G20 [lol], Skyline/G35, etc) or Ford (F150/Mark LT, Pinto/Bobcat, etc) or Chrysler (Hell, their early K-cars and all their minivans)... I could keep going on and on...

#2, Still, I invite you to find a company that whores itself out more. Cases in point: the Trailbravenvoyscenderainier-7X and the Chevrauxholpel CorsaBarinaSailCeltaClassicChevyC2.

#3, Well that's simply because GM started out with different car makes in different countries all over the place, with different perceptions by the locals... so they sorta HAVE to... every other car maker sells cars in just as many markets, but got to them later, so they can bring their normal brands to those markets...

You're just blaming GM for getting into the game early before companies got a real "world-view" of their operations...

#4, I don't see how they have an excuse though, in the case of their 6 or 7 "different" variants of the GMT360 platform that are ALL sold in North America.

#5, Oh... well, that... yeah, that is pretty bad... but still, that's due to them being around since the early bloody 1900's... They have to keep the different divisions running, because if they didn't they'd get sued by dealerships up the wazoo, and NO ONE would have the budget to develop completely different cars for every single division... they gotta do what they can...

...and really, this is besides the point. Your original post was commenting on the fact that the VX220 and Speedster differ only in their grilles... other than the minivans, vans and compact pickups, which vehicles in GM's American lineup are completely identical to each other except for the grilles? The GMC and Chevy large trucks all have different headlights/taillights now... try to keep your arguments straight.

You obviously have a real problem with General Motors rebadging of vehicles, and when confronted with the fact that most other carmakers do what you're bashing GM over, you try to change your argument around to keep on slamming GM and only GM.

#6, The Cobalt and G5 are near identical too.

#7, Several people in GM's management have expressed regret over bring the G5 coupe here... It's simply a stopgap car, never meant to sell in large numbers... just a placeholder until they can give Pontiac a proper entry-level compact again...

#8, I'm not bashing them, I rather like the G5 coupe for what it is. I am a little so-so over Pontiac going alpha-numeric though. Although, almost every car maker does it now. :( I wish cars had actual names, rather than G5, G6, G35, MKZ, MKX, CTS, DTS, STS, etc

The G5 coupe is more attractive than the cobalt IMHO

#10, Well yes, I have to agree with that, simply because I hate the pimple taillights on the Cobalt coupe.

#10, yes it is. I think the Sunfire was better looking than the Cavvy in some colors/trims/wheels.

#11, I agree with you too. The G5 is indeed better looking than the Cobalt. I never liked the Sunfire, but for once the Pontiac version of the Cavalier Cobalt looks OK.

Kinda like how Honda sells EVERY MODEL THEY MAKE in Japan? Including rebadgings of US Honda/acura models.
