#2, I'd drop in a mild Chevy 4.3 V6. Problem solved. |

#3, No. It would need truck springs to support the weight and the handling would be ruined. A nice Alfa 2.5l V6 or 1.8 turbo would do the job. Or something from Cosworth. |

What are the specs on the Opel Speedster? Based on reviews of the US model Sky I can only imagine it must be pretty heavily modded to suit European tastes. |

#7, From what I can tell - they're just redline Sky in an Opel suit. Nothing else.

#6, Is that supposed to be a joke? A 4.3 V6 weighs less than a Chevy small block V8 (in fact, it literally IS a Chevy small block with two cylinders lopped off) and those have been successfully swapped into all manner of cars without ruining the weight.
One of the biggest myths about V8 engines to those that are unfamiliar with them seems to be that they all weigh 800 lbs.

#9, Yeah, look at all the LS1 RX7s, it's an aluminum small block, not a goddamned anvil and everyones all like "OMGweightruinzhandling!!!!111". Personally the idea of a 300hp Mazda coupe gives me goosebumps. |

Generally V8-powered conversion cars only weigh 100-200 lbs more. That's no different from carrying a passenger.
Sometimes, as with the old Datsun Zs, the V8s are actually lighter. |

#11, Carrying a passenger right over the steered wheels.
That said, I'd be willing to trade a little turn-in and perhaps a smidge more understeer for an LS1 powered FD. |

#12, Not exactly difficult to compensate for. I doubt it would be noticable at all, unless the car in question has an overall weight of less than 1500 lbs. |

#13, Weight over the front is always noticeable, even if compensated for with suspension set-up... but as I said, a few percent loss in turn-in and a smidge of understeer could easily be compensated for with more power and torque for adjusting the attitude of the chassis with your right foot. |
