And, uh, if the front wheels are touching the fenders now, how does it drive with people inside...?

#3, Suspension travel? Blasphemy. If your spine isn't compressed after running over an ant, it's not a real car.

#5, just floor it when you need to turn, torque steer should do the rest?

*based on the only 205 gti i've seen driven in anger. Driver floored it and the car immediately went crazy*

#6, Never in my life I have faced this 'torque steer' everyone is talking about.
This family of cars (Renault 5, Pug 205, Citroen AX) shares common characteristics because of their suspension design. Basically, you have to keep the gas floored pretty much all the time or else the car will enter a mad oversteer slide in a corner. When you put improperly set-up performance suspension on them they become even worse. They are very small, very light and very, very, very nervous.
I took my R5 on a few gravel practice sessions and the car was simply crazy. I had to wrestle with it, all I could do was to floor it and pray I wouldn't have to lift off. I had the shocks revalved and set-up to "soft-street" setting and it was much better but still far from OK. In the end the car swapped ends on me during a rally and I totalled it.

#7, I think torque steer might affect only fwd cars with, you know, torque :p
Nah, used to get it in the old Mazda sometimes, floor it in 2nd, and the front would just pull to one side without any warning. Makes you look like a dick.

#8, I think Europe's pretty much sorted this out. The only time I hear of torque steer is on cars equipped with aggressive LSD's (like Focus RS).
