Why does this remind me of that footage from the first Gulf War... with the smart bombs and whatnot?

Y'know, I still haven't seen that movie... I tried starting to watch it, but I got bored too quickly...

#5, Well, I admit, I wasn't in the best of moods that day, and it wasn't a VHS or DVD or whatnot, it was being aired on TV... at the time I just didn't feel like watching it.

I've watched it twice, and I only found it funny in spurts.

You really had to grow up in the 50s and 60s like I did to appreciate much of the humor of "Strangelove." But every character in the film had a real-life counterpart, and that's why it was so scary and so funny at the same time.

Being something of a history buff, I had had no problem getting the satire in the film...I just found that most of the humor fell flat.

The problem is that history didn't really deal with the attitudes of people back then. In fact, history has debunked a lot of misconceptions we had at the time which is why the jokes would be so incomprehensible.

That's the problem with politcally based satire, a few years down the road it just becomes more and more irrelevant. And the thing is that lots of politicians these days seem to be making fools of themselves so well that making fun of them is just an excerisize in redundancy.
