#5, as rich as owning a late 80s sedan that probably was bought for 500 bucks, then shod with rims that were probably stolen

I've seen a couple of these high riders or whatever you wanna call them in the paper for relatively low prices (gee, I wonder if the truck suspensions and 25 inch wheels have anything to do with it). I've seen a 64 Riviera with 24 inch rims and a pretty cherry looking 401 Nailhead for about ten grand, I also spotted a nice 72 Monte also with 24 inchers with a 350 going for around eight grand. If I could get my hands on one I know I could sell the rims right quick, then I could swap in stock struts, springs and shocks using that money. I think it would be a fullfilling project to say the least.

#12, with a $1500 grille, $2000 in paint, "phat chrome" and more subs than the US navy pacific fleet.

It's more like a waste of 10-15k

as much as I hate this trend, at least they're potentially saving the cars rather then letting them go to rot. Then again, they always start with the rust-free ones, because of the whole "rust aint cool playa" theory. On a forum I sometimes visit, members post build threads. More often then not, they're clean, one owners bought from dealers or from older private sellers.

#17, I find that stuff depressing. Yeah, I know I'm a purist and I get flak for that sometimes, but most of these custom creations just don't look good when they're done. And as some of you probably know, I dislike most of the respected '50s and '60s hacked-up "kustoms" as much as I dislike modern overdone lowriders, fake rat rods and high-risers. Stock or mild custom can be beautiful. A lot of the cars that get hacked up were no prize to look at originally - hell, a '75 Grand Ville isn't something I'd want to own in any state. But one tends to gain an appreciation for the original car after seeing what it got turned into.

#18, agreed :) I don't "like" many of the stock older cars I shoot; I shoot them because they're a part of motoring history, ugly or not. I would honest never want to own a big 60s or 70s car, but they're so cool to examine in close detail because the stock intricacy is actually pretty sweet. I love scripture/badging from the 1960s and 1970s because it's so elaborate not to love.

#19, I think the script badges from decades gone by are some of the coolest details of old cars. The noncommittal block letters of the modern era are so boring.
