To be perfectly honest... your love, adoration, and devotion to a non-performance FWD GM sedan from the '80s boggles and confuses me... it's a beast from the era when GM's vehicles were poorly built with not exactly class-leading engineering merit...

What happened to it?

Wait 6000STE non-performance?

#15, 140hp/3000lbs... if that's performance, then my 145hp/2800lb G20 is even HIGHER-performance... and, uh, that does not compute.

#16, 135hp/2823lbs, 0-60 in roughly 10 seconds. First year of EFI on that engine. Handling's good for 0.79G, stopped well enough to avoid a fairly serious crash, a coyote and a kid on a bike who rode out in front of me (different events, obviously). Was rated as a credible domestic competitor to BMW and Audi back in the day. It was a different time, people.

The car is sitting in the garage awaiting work. Just like it's been since August 2008. >.<

#17, Ok, I can see that, I guess... imagining a car with the power/weight ratio that the G20 has, but 10 years earlier... that would be pretty neat.

I guess I just have some seriously bad inner biases against the quality of engineering and performance of domestic cars from the mid'70s-mid'80s...

#18, That's the weird thing about my car at its age. Knock on wood, the typically problematic digital dash all works perfectly but seemingly generic things like, say, the A/C, do not. That, and the electronic ride control compressor wasn't working when it was on the road, but still randomly turns itself on occasionally, which we think may be the reason why the battery wears itself down in the garage. The car still starts right up with one turn of the key.

Interestingly, your G20 is taller by an inch and narrower by more than five inches. The 6K is also a good foot longer.

Just remember, it's not always about numbers. My '84 Camaro made only 150 hp and weighed 3200 lbs., but I used to love driving it. Torque was excellent, though. It was also extremely reliable.
