Nice Cav, but it's still a Cav.

#2, I take it you'd prefer a turbo?

#3, Its a matter of efficiency. Parasitic loss makes a bigger impact on a four banger than a v8.

I'd like to supercharge my 5 cyl.

#6, Direct drive, like with a supercharger, is more responsive, though.

#8, Are you still having leaks with your setup ?

#9, It's been quite a while since I had those problems, and I think most of those were actually due to PCV routing (yes, one of the PCV lines was dumping in front of the SC inlet, and the oil was getting blown out behind the volute).

Oh, and, oddly enough, if I was looking to put forced induction on a four banger, I'd probably go looking for positive displacement superchargers first. Yeah, it surrenders something in terms of efficiency to a turbocharged system, but it's about as close as you're going to get to simulating the behavior and responsiveness of a larger NA engine.

And, yet, ironically, I'm toying with the idea of switching to a moderately sized single turbo on my 4.2; I figure the sheer amount of exhaust energy that thing has should pretty much eliminate lag.

I personally wouldn't add a higher output power adder to a factory GM 4 banger or most other 4 cyl engines. This Cav is pretty cool but there's the fact that there's so little performance potential unless you're willing to spend gobs of money turns me off the idea totally.
