#2, I'd drive pretty much anything that isn't an 80s N/A 4 or stock Mustang II :P |

Due to the rarity, the resale on these is pretty absurd; upwards of $20K from what I've seen. It really seems kind of stupid, when you consider that it's relatively cheap and easy to duplicate or exceed its level of capability. |

But really, a 351W has plenty of potential, but ~300 bhp out of one (which is what the R model had in stock form) is pretty weak. The only thing that strikes me as really "special" about these cars is that they supposedly came with a fuel cell in stock form. I could easily build a '94-95 GT that would out-power and out-handle an R for a lot less than what it would cost to get the real thing. |

Indeed they were, but the hardware included isn't good enough to present a compelling value for that purpose if you're just trying to build an SN95 based track car. Hell, except for the safety added by the fuel cell and the fact that the R model has somewhat better brakes, my freaking V6 is more capable.
The only real use for the R-models, in my opinion, is if you're competing in a race series that mandates the use of that model. The closest thing I can think of would be something like Grand Am Cup, where all the current (S197) Mustangs are basically built from a specific model (with a spec transmission and engine) that Ford provides.
