I noticed there's some new place in the local auto traders selling "pimped out ridez" and about 75% of the cars in their ads were Magnums/300c's/Chargers

#1, The Chrysler LX platform lineup is extremely popular among the hip hop community. It's not uncommon to see Charger's and their ilk with large chrome wheels.

#2, seen a bunch round here. A couple dudes at school have a Charger with 22s and a Magnum with 22s.

If I was in DCX marketing I'd be pissed considering this would likely alienate some key customer demographics. But then again, they did approve of using snoopy dogg to promote it.

Hell, appealing to the youth crowd has clearly been working, although Snoop Dogg was a dubious (yet entertaining) choice to advertise seeing as how many adults aged 35-65 think he's evil. But with the old people crowd gravitating towards Buick, what else can you do?

#7, and also, look at the people who liked them when they came out. Hell, 50 Cent bought one for everyone in G Unit, and Eminem bought one too. Game bought one, Nelly got one. Then donks replaced them.

#8, They're cool, aggressive looking cars with the most powerful engines in their class. Dodge hit a good demo, it just wasn't the one they were expecting. They seemed to want to attract 40 something hot rodders with nostalgia appeal, they got 20 somethings wanting to show up the Mustang crowd.

#9, yep. It's the way marketing works. Back when I worked at Walser, we sold about 13 Stratus R/T 4 drs. All to 40+ family men with kids. Not to the "rice" crowd they seemed to want to attract. Also, when the Chargers first came out, all we had were the R/Ts, and did people look at them? You bet they did. What kinds of people? All kinds. I remember the very first Charger we had was bought buy some young fresh out of school business man. He traded in the Yukon his parents gave him for it.

#10, In 15-20 years we'll probably start seeing kids racing around 05-06 LX bodies like the kids today race around the F and Fox bodies from the late eighties/early nineties.

#12, Nah, knowing Ford there'll probably be a colossal recall, it'll turn out that after 100K miles the lugs fall out, the seals all burst, the hoses snap and the gas tanks explode simultaneously.

#11, I doubt it. Even americans must know by know that autos are not meant to be raced *runs*
Seriously, though, the whole performance appeal of those cars is ruined to me by the lack of manual transmission option.
