#20, my aunt had a bronze/beige '90 or '91 and a pine green '95. Both good cars, but soulless.

#19, I thought the Camry took over as #1 in 1996 after the Taurus's tragic redesign. It's held the title since then. IIRC the Accord never made it to #1 in any year.

#22, Except 1989, 1990, 1991, and 2001 :P

And it appears RRB is right:

#21, My dad had Taurusses as company cars for about 6 years between 1989 and 1995, IIRC, new one every 2 years. Excellent cars for the time, honestly. Never had any problems, minor or major. And I also remember one of my friend's dad had a base model 1989 Taurus that he was constantly beating and he also never had any problem with it, except the paint was peeling very badly. He sold it in 1999 I think and then bought a 1996 Grand Prix, also a very reliable car.

I'm going to second that. They weren't thrilling, but the early 90s Tauruses (Taurii?) at least worked. Since then, my father has had three Dodge Intrepids as company cars. The first one was in the original bodystyle, and I think it had transmission and AC problems. The later two were in the more recent bodystyle, and both of them burned up a cam position sensor at the 30K mile mark.

The jury's out on that one. He's still got the second one; the AC is shot and the transmission feels a little dodgy.

#27, what year? How many miles? It sounds just like the Intrepids we had in HS auto tech a couple years ago. Both 2000s with no A/C and tranny probs. Both had 75k or so.

It's an early '00s model, I forget exactly what year because I don't care. It's either at that point in terms of mileage, or getting there.

The Ford 500 is going to be renamed "back" to the Taurus due to poor sales.

My dad's company used a lot of Taurii for company cars; he personally owned two himself (an '89 and a '94, both blue GLs). They were good cars but the '89 got broken into twice and was later sold; the '94 had to have the engine replaced in 2000 just before it turned over 100k miles. It had had various other problems leading up to that, things that didn't make themselves known until the engine quit. The tranny was getting soft, too. It's still running around my town (two more owners since my dad) with LX wheels and a big dent in the rear bumper. Dad and I liked that car; my mom hated it.
One of my dad's coworkers had a grey '92 wagon that was a piece. My dad tried to sell it for him and had to practically give it away to a dealer who later regretted buying it. Ah, the joys of Taurus ownership :P

#31, My father's old Ram and my mother's 2003 Intrepid are both at around 80k so far...no trouble out of either of them.
