Description:
A screenshot from Screamer 4x4 PC game.
The only game I know of that deals with off road trials. A trial is a timed event in which competitiors must drive through a number of gates. The gates are usually palced in the most difficult to get to spots. Penalties are give for knocking over a gate post or missing a gate. all in all, trial gives the term 'precision driving' a new meaning. |

In the game, you have several cars to choose from: Land Rover Defender 90, Jeep CJ7, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Cherokee, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun, Mercedes G Wagen, Mercedes Unimog (bonus), Raba H18 6-axle truck (bonus), Toyota Hi Lux BigFoot (bonus).
All have true to life selection of engines, transmissions, differentials and tires, you unlock better stuff by winning events. The suspension and 4x4 inner workings are very deatiled (low gear and 12 or so gears in trucks), this is a true simulation game.

#2, It is. Graphics is dated (no fancy effects and you can't see the new tires you put on yur car) and one would wish for some car customization (they already come prepped, to various degrees) but it's the best in it's own league. nothing beats crawling at 5mph up a rocky slope, desperately searching for that tiny little bit of grip. |

I always wanted this game, but I went the 4x4 evolution series route |
