#1, Probably imported. There are a few companies that import the Holdens for American use.

I wish they'd bring it here, though. Make it the new Impala SS.

#8, I know, but you can depend on them to whore out any good design they can.

#6, Why? All that engineering for only one brand?

May I remind you of the Camry and the ES? Nobody yells at Toyota for making two versions of the same car.

#10, Cuz they only did it once. GM whores out nearly every design they have. Its lazy as hell and shows a complete lack of creativity. Honestly, I would want a Commodore based Impala Impala badged Commodore if they were to go through with it.

#1, Uh, GM has already announced the Commodore is coming here as the Pontiac G8... I don't know where the fuck everyone else is saying this will be the next Impala got that from, probably their ass.

#11, It's not a lack of creativity - it's a result of the number of brands GM has that could use a car like this. Holden - Chevy - Pontiac - Buick - Cadillac - Vaux and maybe Opel could all benifit from this.

The catch is that no one from the NA market is going to see a Buick Royaum or a Vaux VXR8 in the NA market nor is anyone from Oz going to see a G8. It plays to GM's favour.

Not to mention the SSS - LLL versions of the platform. In a sense - you could have a LSS Zeta as a G8 and an SSS Zeta as an Impala. Their still both from the same platform - but both cars will have totally different wheelbases - exterior dimensions and interior space that nobody from the general public will know the difference; they'll see it as two different cars.

Oh - I forgot. The Camry - the Avalon - the Solara and the ES. Same car - but is it a lack of creativity if they are all available in the NA market with little difference?

#15, Its a lack of creativity selling the same car in the same market. I know you know what I meant. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with rebranding/badging cars in order to sell them in different markets. And yes, on the Camry/Solara/Avalon/ES, that is a lack of creativity on Toyotas part. YEs, I know about the Acura EL in Canada, too. Im no brand fanboy, Honda is at fault too, just to a much lesser extent.

It all boils down to this- rebadging is the laziest way to sell cars. It shows a total lack of fresh ideas. Nothing wrong with putting an American badge on an Australian car to sell it here, but to put different badges on the same car? Pathetic.

#16, You're thinking like this is the badge jobs from the 80's - the mk2 A-bodies and the Cavalier/Cimmaron. GM learned from those mistakes - that's why the sheetmetal from a present day Impala won't fit on a GP.

But if you put a ocean between two cars - who on the dealer's lot is going to care that a car 15,000KM's away has identical sheetmetal as the one they are looking at except that the badge is different?

Mind you - that worthless 5th gen is being built on the same platform - but it's kinda hard to confuse that shit with a G8 inside and out - and they certainly aren't badge jobs. Heck - even the Solstice and Sky are the same cars in the same market - but none of their interior pieces or body pannels are the same.

Zeta has the flexablity to be of 8 different cars lenghts and wheelbases (SSS-LLL) - that's excluding coupes - estates - verts - utes - and AWD variants. All GM has to do is put different dashes and sheetmetal on the body and put an ocean between them.

#17, Stop trying to sell the zeta platform here, mr GM. Im not talking about 80s badge jobs. It doesnt matter if the interior and exterior pieces are different. Its whats underneath. And yes, an ocean or two in the way does make it acceptable..thats exactly what I was saying before. Personally, I just think its lazy to take one car, copy it and give it a makeover, just to sell more cars in the same market.

Youre stagnating the argument with your insider GM bs, fanboy. I just dont care. The GP/etc has and always will be crap in my eyes compared to its competition, and yes, Ill openly say that I mean the Japanese and Europeans there. Ill never buy a car in that class with cheap plastics and cheap fabric inside.
