When I took my MSF course at the Valley Forge reststop off the PA Turnpike, there were so many opposed-twin beemer riders there... in fact, one guy showed up in his beautiful two-tone blue and ivory Ural w/sidecar... GOD it was gorgeous...

...and one time last year, I saw another two-tone blue and ivory Ural w/sidecar parked in a mall lot here in Florida... just as gorgeous.

#1, Yeah, Urals are pretty much Russian license-built copys of old Beemers, but sounds like you already know that.

#2, Indeed. ...and I don't know exactly the legal standing that they have with BMW for building them... from my understanding, they just got the blueprints when Russian troops captured Beemer factories near the end of the war... the current Urals still use the basic pre-war BMW designs...
