why are they making so many? Especially considering the price? On another note, has anyone seen the new wheel choices for the Super Dutys? |

Because Shelby has stated he wants the mustang to be the most powerful car of it's type available. |

#13, well, for something with less back seat room than my supra. id expect it to weigh substantially less than a impala ss (b-body).
any monkey can toss a truck motor in a car and call it fast. |

#13, Yeah, it's like, get over it already.
#14, The back seat room really isn't an issue, personally I don't think that the GT500 should even have a back seat, or a radio or cup-holders. As far as the engine goes, it's true that it's based off the Triton F-150 motor but that's pretty much where the similarities end. I also think it's funny that no one seems to call the 2000 SVT Cobra R "slow" even though it utilizes the same engine.
It's true that the new GT500 is a lard ass and it's also true that you can't just toss a huge engine in a car, slap a legendary nameplate on it and expect it to out-perform the C6 Vette and SRT-10 Viper based on it's own merits. The new Shelby is flawed, sure, but the bottom line is that it's a mean-looking quality car that'll blow the doors off of plenty of other performance cars even if they're not in it's key market competition. |

#17, And fairly worthless for anything other than straightline use.
16, The R model was also nose heavy, and it didn't have the supercharger and water-air intercooler. Or air conditioning, which is probably another 20-30 lbs. over the nose. Weight distributed at the ends of the car is pretty noticeable--my car's nose felt noticeably lighter on the few occasions where the supercharger head unit and bracket had been unmounted. |

#17, That was more of a response to Retta's quip about the 5.4L engine, not so much about the GT500 itself. Perhaps the adjective "slow" wasn't the best choice. |
