It's like a distant second cousin to the Taurus, you can kinda see the family resemblence :)

#1, The larger Scorpio did look remarkably like a Taurus/Sable... that was perhaps its part of its downfall in America...

Given that the Taurus was still pretty modern-looking at the time, and very popular, I'm not sure how that would contribute to the Scorpio's downfall... I'd think that the randomness of a German car with a name that literally means "Mercury" in German (how well was it marketed, anyway?), plus paying high $20,000s for a Ford that wasn't really all that fantastic may have scared people away.
