At least you didn't name him "Smokey" like every other grey cat on the face of the earth.

I knew someone that had an all-gray cat with one speck of black fur on the bridge of its nose... she named the cat "Smut".

...and when my mom was little, they had a gray cat in White Sands, NM (military family) that they simply named "Mr. Gray"... Mr. Gray apparently killed a lot of rattlesnakes.

We had a Maine Coon named Pete which doesn't have anything to do with anything, except for maybe Pete's Dragon.

#4, We had a huge Maine Coon named Mr. Grey... Our current cat -- a black cat, of course -- is named Houdini because she can disappear into thin air and not be found until she gets darned good and ready. :)

#7, I swear to God, cats can teleport... I'm staring at my cat... she's underneath a sofa at the other end of the house... I can see her, I look down to take a sip of soda... and then, BAM, she's sitting on top of the chair I'm sitting in.
