I've been thinking about getting a little 4-banger shit-shaker DD because my Chrysler's gas-thirst is starting to rape my wallet, not to mention it's damn near $4 for regular around here! I wish I could afford something like an SRT-4, I'd like something small and quick. |

#5, Not a whole lotta older Civic Si's here for sale that I'd trust. Or I should say that lots of them have been riced and beaten half to death. I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of a Honda but, criticize me if you must, I'd rather have a domestic. I know that there's a massive aftermarket for Civics, duh, but I'd rather just have a nice AWD or RWD American coupe with a lot of potential stock. I'm not saying the K20 is a slouch but...well...I just want some torque without spending a buttload of cash. |

#7, Well it's just that you said 4-banger, small and quick. I don't know any interesting rwd domestic with a 4-banger that is small and quick. Small RWD domestics with 4s : Fiero, Chevette, huh.... ? And they're not quick.

#8, Yeah, there's really not much in the way of quick 4-banger domestics save for the ones that are fairly new and are out of my price range. I wouldn't really want an SRT4 for everyday driving anyways. And as far as RWD goes it's not much more than a mitigating factor because US compacts I'd want just don't have it. What I meant to say was that I'd rather have a RWD American coupe (any size) with some potential than having to spend a bunch of cash on a Civic; but that's only from a performance point of view and it really has no bearing with a 4-banger shit-shaker I'd desire and I don't know why I mentioned it. |

#9, I'd sport a turbo Chevette myself. But I get your point. BUT, I'd get a 240SX. |

#10, I'd rather have a Vega. And I'd just as soon settle for a Sundance with a turbo'd 2.5L or a Mitsu V6, come to think of it that might be pretty nice. It'd kinda go against what I said in post #9 about just wanting a dinky, no-frills car. But it would be nice to have something that can get out of it's own way. |

Dodge Challenger / Plymouth Sapporo
Chrysler Conquest
>They're technically Mitsubishis, but what the hell.
Ford Mustang SVO
>If you can find one.
Chevrolet S-10 / GMC Sonoma 4.3
>Not exactly a sports car, but they are small and quick, with outstanding aftermarket support.
Chevrolet Cosworth Vega
>Allegedly the only really good Vega. They're pretty cheap and very sporty, but like the SVO, it was a special edition and you have to really look for one.
Beyond that, I've got nothing. |

If you want a decent, reliable, 4 cyl RWD car that makes decent gas mileage, you are making a big mistake by limiting yourself to domestics. There really aren't any that are worth owning in that criteria IMO. Hence the reason I drive a Volvo. |

as far as turbo 4's go....SVO isnt a must....turbo 4 was offered in many many cars
Cougar XR7's of the mid eighties....not sure exactly what years
Thunderbirds from 83 to 88
Mustang GT Turbo's from 82 to 86
Merkur XR4Ti's---though maybe not considered a domestic
gas milage SHOULD be in the mid twenties early 30's stock on those |
