Bet the people who had bought the "last" Eldorado (and American 'till 82) convertibles in 76 were pissed off when these came along.....

Were these factory? I always thought they were aftermarket conversions when I saw them.

Factory. One of the first American convertibles in more than 5 years at the time. (legislation that failed to materalize caused the tempoary discontinuation of all american convertibles as well as "true" hardtops, hardtops never returned)

I also tend to forget about the early 80s Celica convertibles, (wedge style ones) T'were factory but I think coupes were delivered to an aftermarker builder who cut the roof off, only ever seen a few of those.
