Was Dodge the only company that did that black-painted B-pillar on extended cab trucks (from the factory, I mean) ...because the owner of this truck having done so really makes me think of the 1st-gen Ram.

#2, On full-sizers, yeah. Some of the Japanese compacts also had a black B-pilar (usually plastic covered).

On a side note, I don't think I've ever seen an extended cab C/K of this generation before. I didn't even know they made them prior to '88.

Having sat in the back in a Nissan pick up with extended cab... I have to say it's a good form of corporal punishment.

#5, My parents had an '85 Nissan with the extended cab. Even at the age of 10 or so, I didn't find it a terribly comfortable place to be.

The '91 Chevy S-10 extended cab they traded it for was just as bad....the jump seats themselves were more comfortable, but there was even less space than in the Nissan.

#6, You know the jump seats in a compact extended-cab truck are bad when NHTSA and the IIHS refuse to test their safety on the grounds they're too small and not recommended for actual passenger use.

My parents looked at an S-10 once and put me in the back for a test drive. I kept smacking my head on the rear window and front seat on acceleration and braking. And I wasn't very big or very old at the time.

Maybe it's the same as back seats in sports cars: just a place to bolt the rollcage to... :P
