These are wildly popular around here amongst the younger crowd. I see almost a half dozen a day with 16-25 year olds behind the wheel.

#2, Same here, younger teenage guys usally drive the GT's and GTP's, while middle-aged women drive the other models. Ricers drive 'em all.

#2, They're popular because they're fast, fairly nimble and now they're dirt cheap. The Regal GS is the real sleeper though, since nobody expects to get blown away by a plain-looking '90s Buick 4-door. The Pontiac "Wide Track" line is crap; the Grand Prix and Regal are the exact same width and the Buick is only two inches taller.
We bought the Regal because it had a less rakish A-pillar (my parents couldn't drive the GP without hitting their heads on the windshield header) and thicker C-pillars (I was skeptical about its rollover strength). My mom loved the Regal until she got her VUE, then it was unceremoniously dumped on me as a commute car until the supercharger gave out. It's still sitting in our garage awaiting rebuild.

I would think that these old W bodies would be maintenance nightmares at this point. Most of the ones I see now that I am back from Germany are neglected or sitting in driveways with grass growing around them.

#6, That's the unfortunate part. Once they hit about 110k miles everything goes into decline and it starts leaking and falling apart. Ours has about 110k on it and has done exactly that. I talked to a guy who had a 2003 GTP and it did the same thing. He dumped it for a 2009 G8 GT.

#7, My Monte did the same at around 120k. EGR went poof, LIM cracked, and it became for the most part, dead.

#8, My dad wanted to sell the Buick when it was still running, but I didn't think it was honest to sell the car to some poor family and then have it suddenly break on them, requiring a large investment to fix. So we still have it, and it's waiting for the rebuilt supercharger to go in. When you have six cars and only 2-3 at a time are in running condition, that's a real pain. Too many projects, automotive, house, yard, etc to fix the Buick and my 6K right away.
