Saw the trailer for it, seems like one of those "rags to riches" type stories with Denzel Washington as the main bad-ass-drug-dealer type and Russell Crowe as the slovenly cop on his trail. Ridley Scott's directing and Brian Grazer is producing. Apparently it's based on a true story.

#5, What the hell? Denzel once said he didn't like taking that kind of role. That's why he insisted on having his character get killed in Training Day iirc.

#6, It's kinda like Scarface meets the Godfather meets In Too Deep and toss in a few more Hollywood cliches and you've just about got it. But I guess I shouldn't be too quick to judge because the way I figure it Hollywood's only got a handful of original stories when you think about it, and if they can tell the same story again well enough I can't complain. Without the Fugitive we probably wouldn't have had The Bourne Identity for example.

#7 Here's the official website, I guess Denzel was full of shit:

My dad watched them film that "Tucker" movie outside his office building, but I haven't personally witnessed a movie filming. Closest thing for me was:
- realizing I had my butt to the camera while taking my camera out of my backpack outside my college building during a news broadcast (never seen the footage)

On an unrelated note, I've had at least two newspaper appearances...
- had my photo in the local paper once for a poetry field trip I went on
- somehow made it into the Black Panthers newspaper (!) after one of their members gave a speech in my high school history class - the teacher pulled me into the picture >.>

#13, I'm not even black, that's the funny part. The teacher was white, and the other student in the picture was Asian.

#15, Especially us Floridians... for those who don't know, the land that is the foundation for this state wasn't originally part of the North American continent, but rather a piece from Africa that broke off and slammed into North America.

That's why Africa keeps hurling hurricanes at us... to give this place back.

They filmed the Whole Nine Yards in a house near mine and recently they were shooting some parts of "The Curious case of Benjamin Button" in downtown Montreal.

They shot some scenes from the Steven Soderbergh flick Out of Sight starring George Clooney in downtown Detroit back in 1998. They also took some footage of Marky Mark (probably a stand in driver) driving around a Cutlass near the abandoned train station on Michigan avenue for his movie Four Brothers.

Why is it always the good cars that must die? Why not a Daewoo or a Rover?
