Description:
My friend's 2007 Saturn ION parked next to her parents' 2007 Saturn Aura. Her sister drives an SL-sedan, and her parents' Aura was a replacement for their older ION.

When a dealer knows how to treat people right, they tend to come back.

My friend's previous car was not a Saturn, however... she had a 1998 Buick Skylark... I kinda miss that car... it was the most plush compact car I've ever seen, and it had a V6 to boot. It had some guts.

when people don't have high standards, they tend to buy Saturns.

The Aura is nice, though.

You know what's funny, the Toyota dealers I've seen around here usually are very stingy with discounts and incentives, aren't especially knowledgeable with their own cars, and aren't that nice. My parents went to a Pontiac-Toyota dealer once to look at a Bonneville, and the salesman tried to steer them toward a Camry even though they made it clear they wanted a Bonneville. I also found a new Celica on the lot with the hood badge on upside down and the guy wouldn't believe me when I told him XD
You're lucky to get $750 off on, say, a Camry, even during blowout sales. Used cars are still overpriced (I wouldn't buy a used domestic from a Honda or Toyota dealer when an identical car could be bought sometimes for thousands less at a domestic dealer.) I dunno if it's just Northern California Toyota dealers that are that way or what, but I'm not terribly impressed with them.

#7, Same with the Lawrence place too. They were laughing hysterically when I asked them about a Land Cruiser. One guy said "Land Rovers are not Toyotas. You came to the wrong dealer."

i have a spoiled ass friend that drives an ion redline and apparently he believes it is immune to any sort of destruction and could win a race against damn near anything.

he also has too much money and it's starting to turn to rice because he lacks the mechanical skills to install performance parts

#8, Ugh, everytime I read about something like that my faith in humanity sinks that much lower...

#9, There are a few Saturn fanboys driving Redline Ions and Vues around here but they don't seem to be the type to think their rides are the end all be all of domestic performance. Even though the Vue's L66 is an OEM engine built by Honda and has VTAK!!!!

My friend got the Ion because the dealer was closing out the '07s, and it is almost FULLLY loaded, and she got it with an out the door price that was extremely low (I don't know specifics, just going by what she told me).

But in regards to Toyota dealers... rundown...

-My father was very interested in the Solara convertible in '01. The Toyota dealer in PA kept blowing him off and ignoring his requests for a test drive, didn't return calls, etc... he ended up buying a VW Cabrio.
-My mother wanted a RAV4. The Toyota dealer around here made us wait and wait and wait, and finally my mom gave up and got her Tracker.
-My oldest sister wanted a Camry. She went to 4 different Toyota dealerships around Orlando, all of them treated her like shit and wouldn't give her the time of day. She gave up and got her brand-new Accord.

-My other sister was the only person in my family stubborn enough to sit through a Toyota dealer's bullshit, because she *HAD* to have her Scion xB... she put up with the runaround just to test-drive one at a Toyota dealer in Orlando... and she sat through the dealer in Merritt Island taking 7 hours to organize the paperwork to buy the fucking thing... all the while trying to get her to buy extra options, service plans, insurance plans, etc...

Geez, from what I've heard about Toyota dealerships I'm surprised they sell any damn cars at all. I've yet to experience the joy of buying a newer car from a dealership.

#14, Toyota dealerships are like French restaurants. They know they have the most in-demand around, so they get egotistical and snooty, and treat their customers like shit. ...yet people still go there in droves.
