#3, The "slight patina" of the jalopy look is one thing, but then there's the extreme: The guy who spends thousands and thousands on his car, but deliberately leaves it full of flaking rust (and might even drill extra holes), chops and channels it to ridiculous and unusable proportions, deliberately half-asses the welding so everyone can see where the bodywork was done, makes an intake out of soup-cans (with the labels still attached), and welds his own headers so that they point straight up and are full of holes, to make the most annoying, grating racket ever. Then he sits back and acts like he's all cool and badass because he drives a "rat rod."
When exactly did portraying onesself as a talentless builder who can't handle a wrench, a welder, or a paint gun EVER become cool? Likewise, when did being too lazy to complete a project ever become cool? |
