My Uncle's CTS may not be the prettiest, but I like the pearl white color and leather interior.
Plus, it's alot cooler than his Explorer.

If only Cadillac has tested its cars on the Nürburgring 25 years ago... |

#4, It's either this or floaty old land barges....
Then again - 7's and S-class'es pretend to be the old American Caddy and they live up to that (shit fuel economy - poor handling - too heavy - bought by pretentious cocks and depreciate like crazy). |

#11, Eh, 7 series handle poorly? Read a review, in the last, uhm, ever? The S series also handle well but to a lesser extent. |

#11, Floaty land barges are what Cadillac does well. If you want a BMW, buy a BMW. It's getting to the point where there are no limo-like, elegant, broad-shouldered highway cars anymore. The ultimate expression of what a Cadillac should be was the 1957 El Dorado Brougham. Not this crap. |

#15, Smooth handling vs. sport handling. The 7 is only going to do one. - and it's the one that's more "stereotypical American land barge" like.
THAT is poor handling. THAT is when I can say a 7 is trying to be "American" and failing. Now if you "Caddy trying to European" bit made any sense - I wouldn't have made that post.

#16, But the demand for those cars either died off or bought a 3. Cadillac could not keep making bloated Fleetwoods and remain relevant in the luxuary segment. The only brands who do that exclusively are Rolls and Bentley and both of those's brands owners have deeper pockets than GM's too keep making such cars for eternity.
If Cadillac intends to remain relevant - even as the proposed "full range luxuary brand" - it's got to drop the bullshit land barge past for now and go after volume sales. The 3 and 5 do it - the C-class does it - and they didn't get to where they are selling barges.
That and the technology front. People want to be wow'ed inside - electric this and power that. That shit sells - and they don't need chrome bumper with cones and tailfins.
Basically - Caddy has made progress - but it still a long fucking way to relevancy. The buyers have moved on since the late 70's - and caddy didn't notice until 2003. |

#18, So why has Lincoln - which still makes land barges - eclipsed Cadillac's sales?
The idea that nobody wants land barges is laughable. There is a very large market:
1. From older people. These cars have qualities that appeal to older people. When the current crop of Camry drivers gets old enough, they'll be driving land barges. They broad-shouldered, large, easy to get in and out of, and softly sprung.
2. From younger people who appreciate the "bling" factor. Explain the popularity of used Buick Roadmasters with younger people. |
