Description:
Lancia Dedra.

When I'll get a real job, I'll buy a daily driver, this fits my needs well. Cheap, easy to fix, based on the popular Tipo/Tempra, roomy and comfortable. A lot of cars had air-con, leather, electric windows, etc.

A smart car too. I'd drive one

Alternatively, I might get a Tempra, even chepaer but not as good looking. Still, you can find a nicely equipped car if you look really good.

#2, How is the reliability of the two cars? Typical Italian build quality or surprisingly well built?

#1, I thought you didn't like small FWD executive saloons? And it looks even smarter in person, Tempra makes a bit more primitive, basic impression.

#4, I never said I didn't like ALL front wheel drive executive saloons. I love Alfas and the Citroen C6

#3, My father has/had two Tipos.
-no rust anywhere (if it rusts, it's been in a crash)
-upholstery seems to stand up well
-mechanically sound
-electric stuf likes to failt now and then but nothing major (usually corroded connectors)
-feels a bit detached compared to my Renault but still fun to drive if you know the car well and know where to tickle it.

It has several quirks (alloy shifter mount likes to corrode if the roads are salted and you neglect it, front wishbones start to knock after 30.000km, exhaust can rust fast) but nothing major, and parts are cheap.

#5, Well, Tipo platform was the base for Tipo (duh), Tempra, Lancia Dedra, Alfa 155, Alfa GTV/Spider and Fiat coupe.

Good points and nice to hear that those Fiats seem to hold up well. And the Tipo platform was the base of the GTV and Fiat Coupe? I didn't see that one coming

#9, Dargh... missed that. Oh well, I'll have the white Audi 80 next to the Lancia. Again, another front wheel drive exec car I like :P

#8, Yeah, the engine bay in my dad's Tipo is huge: makes you wonder what would fit in... Alfa V6s and Coupe's inline-5 turbo bolt right in :D

Those gen Fiats suffer from poor, unjustified, reputation. Case in point: 1988 Renault 5 1.4: 1500pln. 1993 Fiat Tipo 1.6 DOHC: 3000pln. Big, comfy, reliable cars that cost as much as scrap.

#12, Lead to their reputation going down the pan in the 90's so that's why they are doing this big comeback which appears to be working. Nice to see Fiat's future looking a little brighter with cars like the new 500, Panda, Grande Punto and Bravo.

Also, why not bolt Alfa's V6 into a Tipo? Now that would be fun

As for you Jay, hush your mouth!

A small executive saloon based on a simple family car? Sounds kinda familiar...

I do have to say, that is a pretty car.

#14, Yeah... doesn't it? xD
It seems my car tastes are nearing yours. As I said a million times, the more I race, the more relaxed my daily driving is. Odd.

#14, Speaking of small executive saloons based on simple family cars... I don't care what anyone says, I still love the Jaguar X-Type.

Back on topic... Sense, is that black trim under the grille stock? It seems like it should be red to match the car.

#16, Adrenaline rush? Maybe. For me, it's a kind of trance. I remember only a few details of the 4 lap race I ran at III Youngtimer Party. Perfect concentration, prefect serenity, clearness of mind, sharpness of senses... hard to describe. Trance, extasy, adrenaline rush, you name it.

#17, That unpainted panel was the first thing I noticed, too. Definitely needs to be repainted.
