I was a regular viewer of that show at about that time and I remember being scared by the regular show sometimes! The music is off putting. That hack is completely awesome! |

I've become really interested in television signal jackings lately, for some reason. I guess it's just my lifelong interest in broadcasting, plus working in the field and all that.
I've also been reading about the Wyoming Incident, and watched one or two of the videos on YouTube. Disturbing shit, although I'm trying not to watch too many....supposedly the sound frequency in them can cause nausea if you watch them too long.
The whole "Vrillon" thing was weird too, but a little hokey. Plus, no video. |

Here's a link to the Wyoming Incident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?search...p;v=OnDYssFcNxc
Apparently there's some speculation that it never actually happened, and is designed as a viral promotion. Creepy videos, though.
"Vrillon" DID actually happen, though: A news report in the U.K. in 1977 was interrupted by audio (the video was uneffected) of a creepy, deep voice, claiming to be "Vrillon of Ashtar Galactic Command" or some such, with a message for the human race. It lasted approximately six minutes, and in the background interference from other stations can be heard (at least one of which was apparently playing a Loony Tunes cartoon).
Vrillon has an entry on Wikipedia, with links to the audio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vrillon
BTW, thirtyseven, you should check out this guy's profile on YouTube. He has a ton of old videos from recorded from Chicago television, 1970s-1980s. http://www.youtube.com/user/fuzzymemories |
