mid-1960s - 12" woofer/5" midrange/tweeter - will be used in my 'vintage solid state' system I am putting together in my living room.

#5, I ended up getting a funky Rotel RV-855 'bookshelf' receiver--- very funky -- only 20WPC

#8, OMG that is coooool! I love Rotel but I've never heard of or seen that model. Being Rotel I assume it sounds great.

#9, yeah - thought I would keep it 'British' as possible - if only I could find a matching sized CD player (ha!) - seems that no one makes a decent 'bookshelf' micro CD player - except for TEAC / Marantz

#11, probably won't be - I have a bookshelf with 13"X13"X13" slots - so I'm looking for 'micro-gear'. Might eventually run my JVC t-table once the son gets old enough not to scratch the hell out of my vinyl!

ok - finished living room stereo is (kinda weird here)
1965 era Wharfedale W60 speakers as pictured aboce
1978 era Rotel receiver
and a new Gemini CDJ 'DJ style' CD player... like this
http://www.geminidj.com/cdj01.html

mostly picked the CD player so it will slide into the bookshelf slot and you won't see any digital/led display at night because it is a tabletop model.

these speakers though quite old and in need of a new capacitor crossover still sound quite good. Not PUNCHY or BASSY - even with the 12" woofer... but more 'midrangey'. A warm sound with a fairly rolled off-top end. Not very detailed compared to my mighty UREIs - but they make everything sound good n' listenable. Perfect for background / non-critical listening. Really good for reproducing radio vocals, etc.
