Harley-Davidson really pulled off a winner when they came out with the VRSC series... they could have just stagnated on their "heritage" image (I wouldn't call it "retro" since their bikes have ALWAYS looked like that), but no, they decided to do something revolutionary (for them, at least) and came out with an awesome modern cruiser that can compete head-on with the powercruisers from all over the world.

#2, all they had to do was have someone else engineer it - Porsche.

#5, Actually, Harley handed Porsche the complete engine... their VR1000 racing engine... it was already fully-engineered... they simply needed it modified to be a suitable, reliable street engine... and Porsche knows a helluva lot about turning racing engines into street engines. ...and also had experience of making a water-cooled engine to try to please air-cooled fanatics. :)

I hate V-twin motorcycles in general and Harleys in particular. However, I really like this design. May not be traditional enough for the purists, but it flows nicely.

#8, How about Moto Guzzis, you hate those V-twins also?

Most of them look awkward to me, but they're not so bad. Still, it's mainly the traditional, noisy Harley-style cruiser machines, as well as the overblown "choppers" that come to mind when I think of V-twins. I dislike them largely for the whole image, I suppose.

Heck, I even find Buell more appealing; even if it's Harley stuff packed in a different frame, at least it's not as ugly.
