One is a well-built boring sedan that looks like a truncated minivan and has horrid wheels...
The other is a decently-built coupe with (hopefully) forced-induction and relatively good performance...

Tough choice, actually.

#4, I'd begrudgingly go for the Corolla then, and swap the wheels.

171hp is still 171hp - no matter how boring or limited the rear visablity is.

In that case - never use reverse gear.

Which of these two would I choose?

Easy. The Chevy C/K 4x4 in the background.

#6, The Corolla has 171hp? I have to say, I drove my friend's 175hp ION... and it doesn't feel all that fast... my 140hp G20 feels just as zippy.

...and the Corolla being as tall as it is, the sensation of speed is probably pretty much all but killed.

given the choice, i'd still pick the SS wannabe over this tan grandmother car, and with how i hear about toyotas build quality as of late, i wouldnt touch the rolla with a ten foot pole

#9, Toyota's problems in America as of late have been mostly associated with their V6 and V8 engines... so I wouldn't worry.

#10, IIRC, the build quality in the newest generation Camry has caused something of a stir, too.

#11, This current gen Corolla has been around for a while (maybe too long), so I would imagine if they had any serious design or build problems, we'd be aware of them :P

But yeah, Toyota sure is slipping as of late. Growing pangs.

#9, you want an SS with a fart pipe?

#13, I'd rather a fartpipe over bling wheels anyday

#13, I want a '70 Camaro SS with side pipes.

But that's another matter.

#8, No - the 'balt has 171hp. The Corolla likely has something less - something that can easily be reflected in a beige exterior colour.

The Corolla probably has the 1.8L 126hp engine.
I drove a 2011 Corolla and it was one of the most depressing, soulless cars I've ever driven. Hated it.
