Hope this doesn't happen to the Taco.

Damn you Toyota you're turning into General Motors!

#3, No, the Tacomas just have faulty gas pedals that try to kill people.

#3, Should we now be worried about GM turning into Toyota?

#6, From what I've learned over the past 5 years - its their intent.

The only difference is that GM doesn't have millions to needlessly throw into F1.

#8, Nah, they already build boring cars with no soul like Toyota. GM cars just fall apart sooner.

#9, To be fair - nothing has a soul.

But then again - we are looking at a photo a buckled tailgate - not a broken camshaft or split subframe or faulty door hinge welds or a shattered sunroof.

#11, All of which the Tundra has been known to have problems with also...

...and really, in terms of building fun or exciting cars... in the past 10 years...

Toyota has killed off the MR2, MR-S, Celica, and Supra... whereas in the same timeframe GM has started building the Solstice, Sky, GTO, G8, and have plans to start building a new Camaro... not to mention the Corvette is going strong as ever...

or a motor that has been fucked after only 70k by poor oil flow design...oh wait...

and ill argue that my car has much more soul than, say, my mom's 2004 impala. driving that is just...blech.

#13, To claify - it's not a split subframe - but FJ's with engine bay rips (my bad).
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...-body-rips.html

The faulty door hinge welds on 2004+ Toyota Sienna's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9XlOA4mhd8

And the shattering glass sunroof defelctor on TC's (again my bad).

Toyota is nothing but a trendy brand that builds non-cars. They've killed off every exciting car they built just so they can build replusive shit like the Prius, boring shit like the Corolla, and bloated jokes like the Tundra.

For the past few years, their quality has been the only thing going for them, and now they're losing that. Hell, the Camry isn't even the highest-quality midsize sedan anymore...just after the most recent redesign its slipped to fifth or sixth.

#17, The V6 Camry and 4WD Tundras are now labelled "NOT RECOMMENDED" by Consumer Reports, who usually love fellating Toyota.

Crap is crap, it doesn't matter who manufactured it. You didn't think Toyota would be floating along on cloud 9 forever, did you? Now that Toyota seems to be dropping the ball in the quality control department it's only a matter of time before the average American consumer starts realizing that they're just manufacturing second-quality ultra-bland crap that only has the advantage of being slightly more fuel efficient (albeit more expensive than entry level GM cars). In a few years it won't be a matter of whether GM>Toyota or vice versa, it'll be about who sucks less. But of course GM seems to know what they're doing in the styling department, so they might have the slight edge. It remains to be seen.
