#7, No, this is definitely a case where the GT-R really has NOTHING to do with the Nissan Skyline. It's completely different now. The "It's not a Neon" argument for the SRT4 and the "It's not an Escort" argument for the ZX2 didn't hold water because they were basically slightly-modified versions of the base car... The GT-R shares almost nothing with the Skyline, except for pretty much the Nissan badge. [Edited by DiRF on 1-18-2008 @ 10:40:03 PM]

#9, ...and the general profile and some styling cues. It's funny, people have been crying for years that we don't get the Skyline here in the US. We do, it's called the Infiniti G35/G37.

#10, I never cried about that, and I'm ecstatic that we've got the G35/G37 in America... ...but with the case of the Skyline, we only got it after it had peaked, and are now left with a bloated shell of its former self... same deal with the Lancer Evo and WRX. ...and I guess same deal with the GT-R too. It used to be a 2-door sedan with a hot pepper shoved up its ass, awesome 4WD, 4WS, but still maintaining the proportions of a svelte compact/midsize sedan... now it's just a bloated purpose-built halo-vehicle that's chasing after Porsches and Vipers.

#11, I can't agree. The STis just got better and better, same with Evos (can't comment of the newes ones). As for Evo 6 and 7, the 6 was the last of the truly raw Evos, non-compromising, the next gen was much more civilised. But I can't say they were 'worse', as they were clearly faster and handled better.
