Apparently, the cars actually used to film that series were red... the choice was made since it wouldn't be noticeable in black and white, and it made filming easier since they didn't have to worry about bystanders who might have mistaken it for a real police car.

So I suppose this ones a clone, then, or used for promotional photos and such? Maybe repainted?
