Description:
I noticed the topic had been touched upon in another thread so I figured I'd start my own Ron Paul-specific thread so anyone so inclined could voice their opinion of him, and other politicians, during the primaries in the coming months. |

My surprise comes from the fact that all of his supporters have this cult-like obsession with him. I remember before the primaries when a bunch of people thought he had a legitimate shot at the republican seat, and their spirit didn't waver even when he got raped in the polls again and again and again... |

Anyone who helped Bush get RE-elected must have a screw loose. One more term and just maybe he could kill us all!
Here's yet another story that starts off by talking about how Bush ignored the law to make things worse for us all.
http://www.yahoo.com/s/804399
If I had a nickel for every time I read a story that begins like that since he was first elected.....
Can someone name some good things Bush did (for the people, not for himself)? Anyone?

#5, The only thing he (I think it was him, seems thats what I read somewhere) did that I liked was he put tariffs on canadian lumber when they where under-cutting the U.S. lumber. It kept alot of people in my area working. Other than that I don't think he could properly run a McDonalds let alone a country. |

this dude that came into the store the other day tried to convince me to vote for this bag of shit because he has "raised more money than any political candidate ever". and i told him that was only true because he accepted money from the KKK and stormfront.org.

I'm no Ron Paul supporter - but I can understand some of his Libertarian policies - he is anti-war and wants to drastically reduce the amount of federal government. This is a throwback to the old days when the Federal Government had three roles - Defend the country, make treaties and regulate commerce (if I got that right). The idea (of Libertarians that is) is to push government down to more of a local/state level. Personally I'm pretty much Libertarian - thinking the Federal government has gotten too large - but I realize that certain things can only be done at that level.
Such a movement attracts a certain amount of kooks - like anti-tax guys, certain white power groups, guns rights, survivalists, etc. I'm not 'up' on Ron Paul so I can't even comment fairly on what he personally thinks/believes. |

Don't all politicians cater to special interest groups in some way or another? |

#9, I'm strongly Libertarian, but I don't like Ron Paul, and his supporters frighten me. They seem like prime candidates to cut off their balls, poison themselves while wearing new Nikes, and catch the tail of Hale Bopp next time it comes around. |
