#4, You win, at least until Rik shows us all up with his £1 per liter petrol.
EDIT: Not so fast. I figured it wrong. I think yours is closer to about $3.85 a gallon unless I miscalculated again.

$3.54 gal for 87 is average right now here in Grand Rapids.

once I drive out of town and head north an hour or so - prices drop a couple of cents.

We shmucks did it: there are so many diesels in Poland, the price of diesel equalled the price of 95 octane gas. This is something that's never happened before, but the thing is: you can get only so much gas and so much diesel from crude oil, you can't make more of one or the other. Bottom line: all over Europe, diesel will become more and more expensive... unless we wake up. In Poland, a diesel is usually 4000USD more expensive than the gasoline model of the same car. A modern, computer controlled, sequential LPG (liquid propane gas) system is around 2000USD. And LPG is half the price of gas. Bottom line: buy a gasoline car, install an LPG system. Especially since the new ones don't rob you of hp, you only get a bit worse mileage, as LPG is less caloric than gas. Of course, the LPG tank will take up boot space.
