Having read some of the dumbass comments by the people who built this thing, I can only shake my head at it.
Everyone is so "clannish" when it comes to "import guys" and "domestic guys" and other such crap that no one can view cars objectively anymore. Swapping something like an LS1 into a S13 or Supra makes sense, since it's a lightweight engine with higher displacement and the capacity for more reliable horsepower and torque. However, swapping a Supra engine into a Camaro only lowers the car's overall potential....an LS1 with the same build would absolutely spank it.
It's nice to be fair to cars from all over the world and be open minded, but to be so blind as to pretend that a 3.0 I6 has the same horsepower and torque potential as a 5.7 liter V8? That's how crap like this is born.
Thus, this is a pointless build. It's good only for making Musclecar fanboys cringe, Japanese sportscar fanboys cheer, and leaves those of us who are objective scratching our heads.

#4, you do realize the Supra I6 is a stout engine correct? Why not do something different? Putting a generic V8 into a old Camaro is boring. You're basically being a fucking gritboy there. OMG OMG Domestic V8 = win and Import motor = teh gay. Sounds kinda lame. Oh, and you had this same kind of hoopla when you did the Supra boards thing in 2004. It wasn't funny then, it isnit funny now.

#5, The builder quotes 1,000 horsepower. He even had the nerve to call it "the first 1,000 horsepower turbocharged Camaro" at one point, but in the world of V8s, 1,000 hp is not really that special anymore. In the end, objectively speaking, it's still a heavier engine with smaller displacement and worse packaging.
Why not swap a Honda F20C into a Supra? It wouldn't have the same potential, but it would be OMG different.
EDIT: And with your "Gritboy" comment, you've only revealing your own fanboy tendencies. As I said earlier, it's fine to be fair and to be into all kinds of cars, but to the point of ignoring simple physics? That's further than I'm willing to go.

It would've been nice to see footage of it tackling the track instead of revving in some dank garage with lame hip hop playing in the background.
And when you get right down to it, an engine is just a fucking engine, it's just a piece of iron or aluminum or what-have-you but since it has a different companies name stamped on it douche-bag fanboys feel the need to either shoot sticky wads on one another or shun it entirely. Sure it's a bit different than your standard build but it's just another trailer queen Supra in a Camaro suit. I'll bet it runs 12's to boot. |

I've run across this car again, recently through some comments from its builder. I just found out it was built from a stock, show-quality RS/SS. >_<
The owner also made a complete ass of himself on at least one forum (6speedonline.com), saying the car should run "at least 8s" with 834 hp at the flywheel, and it does it "on the stock block, which no V8 is capable of." However, he claimed he had never taken it to the drag strip, but that he had "dusted at least one super bike on the street."
When several users proved him wrong on the stock V8 blocks and linked him to a turbo LS1 Trans Am that runs 8s and makes over 1,000 hp, he in turn claimed they were lying, and said "I've built more V8s than you can imagine, and they never make more than about 405 rwhp."
