Description:
It was a fun 3 days, but I've had to park the 944 for now, that steering rack leak is so bad now, it'll run the reservoir dry in 30 minutes

This was the last pic before it went back into the garage, I've got more parts coming later in the week.

#1, I bet you get asked this a lot, but how are the prices? I've been toying with the idea of buying (externally) rough 944S destined to end in the crusher after some 5 years of motorsport abuse* but my friend called me an idiot (because of supposed part prices).

* Making Porsche Club Poland pussies die of herat attack would be a nice bonus.

#2, Quoted from LTRs previous post, when I asked him if parts were expensive:

In a word, yes. But, if you don't have to pay anyone labor to install them it's not so bad.

For example, that aforementioned steering rack looks like it'll have to be replaced, it's a $990 part, the Clutch/Pressure Plate combo is $1,000, motor mounts are like $90 each, basicaly, take whatever it would cost to get the part in question for a Camaro or a Taurus, and then double it.

#3, Pretty much, the number one killer of these cars is bad clutches, if you aren't a mechanical person, and have to have a shop put one in, it's $3500 to $4000, and on a 20 year old car, that's just not worth it to a lot of people, there's a reason the world is full of parted-out 944's , once those clutches go, the car is a goner in 99% of the cases.

So in a nutshell, I'd be crazy if I bought a 944S instead of E30 325i.

#7, my friend that I mentioned a while back who races a E30 is a testament to it's rock solid reliability. He races with a strict 'replace it if it breaks' policy and has a great time.
