Description:
Great Wall Motor Coolbear.

It is a totally original design and not at all a copied combination of the 1st and 2nd generation Scion xBs. Totally not. Seriously.

I thought it was a facelifted overseas market first-gen xB. I think you know where I stand on this one.

Great Wall also has the Florid, which is a 1st-gen Toyota ist / Scion xA ripoff with a 2nd-gen Yaris front-end.
...and the Peri, which is a 2nd-gen Fiat Panda ripoff with a different, uglier, front-end.
...and the Phenom i-7, which is a complete 2nd-gen Yaris liftback ripoff with a HIDEOUS front-end.
...and of course some of us remember their Nissan truck ripoff... 52025

#3, Not if the courts have anything to say about it.

The Great Wall Peri, Shuanghuan SCEO, and the several different smart rip-offs have all been banned for sale in Europe by the EU courts, or are in the process of being banned. And I imagine the story will be similar if the Chinese companies start making plans to sell the cars in America also.

Sadly, within the confines of Chinese borders, they can rip-off to their hearts' content.

#4, I didn't know they'd been banned outside of the country, I figured they would be though. Hopefully any consumer in China would be astute enough to realize it's complete garbage.

#9, I have to be honest, if they would get an agreement with Toyota to where they could sell this thing in America, I'd be all for it. The 1st-gen xB is a MUCH better vehicle than the 2nd-gen one. I still don't know why Toyota decided to fix what wasn't broken.

"Well, we've got this vehicle here that most people buy because of its fuel economy, excellent outward visibility, and spacious interior... I know! Let's put a bigger engine in it to ruin the fuel economy, make the windows smaller, removing the rear-quarter windows altogether, and lower the roof so there's less room inside!"

...and I agree about the Coolbear name.

Western companies have this cool way of making other people's cars with their own name. It's called a JOINT VENTURE. Maybe the Chinese should try it sometime.

Toyota Coolbear doesn't sound as (bad pun) cool as Greatwall Coolbear. :(

I can't seem to find a definite answer as to whether or not the Coolbear, as shown, is still in production/on sale... but a modified "soft-roader" version is still listed on their site... http://www.gwm-global.com/greatwallm2.html
