so, what are the ratings on these? Also, If a person wanted to build a pair, what would it cost?

20Ws output each - cost to build is roughly $1100

that is $1100 for the pair - a big ripoff power-wise, but I like the way they sound ;)

build details here: http://www.jenisonaudio.i8.com/pages/el156amp.html

#3, well, as we have discussed before, I'm somewhat interested in tube amplification... but not THAT interested yet. I've yet to get off my ass and get help with my tube amplified console. 60649

#4, yeah, I would start with something cheap - like a console amplifier or a Dynaco ST70. Easy to work on and they sound very good for the low entry $$$.

If you're up for a kit - there are some decent priced ones out there -

$195.95 stereo amplifier kit
http://www.tubesandmore.com/scripts....FXP?item=K-502

$480 Dynaco ST35 stereo amp kit (very nice 18WPC here)
http://www.dynakitparts.com/store/product.aspx?id=1
or http://store.triodestore.com/diy35kit.html

$675 Dynaco ST70 stereo amp kit (a classic!)
http://www.dynakitparts.com/store/product.aspx?id=2

or $565 (same St70 amp, different seller)
http://store.triodestore.com/st70buildkit.html

a low powered triode amplifier
