It took less than a decade... electric cars went from being "neighborhood vehicles" (essentially glorified golf carts) to honest to goodness "daily drivable" vehicles produced by a large number of established carmakers...
Imagine if, in 2006-2007, you would have told somebody that pure electric normal-looking vehicles, that operate and drive damn near like an internal-combustion counterparts, would be produced and sold by Nissan, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Kia, Fiat (being sold in America, no less), Mitsubishi, BMW, and smart... along with some new-fangled, totally independent company that is now producing a large luxury electric vehicle that outsells the Merc S-Class, BMW 7-Series, Lexus LS, and Audi A8...
