This is what's known as the "Westergard Look" in hot rodder circles, named after the custom builder that pioneered it with his 1936 Ford five-window back in the 1950s. He used a LaSalle grille, although other grilles (especially from 1930s Nashes and sometimes Hudson Terraplanes) can be used instead.
It's a striking look when it's done right, which this mostly is (although I'm not a big fan of the custom headlights on this one). |

He built several more cars, and played with several variations of the look, using several different types of grilles....at least one of his cars wore a circa-1940 Packard grille. |
