Description:
1936 Ford with custom grille. Dunno if I've posted this before, but most of my pics from that show are expired.

This is what's known as the "Westergard Look" in hot rodder circles, named after the custom builder that pioneered it with his 1936 Ford five-window back in the 1950s. He used a LaSalle grille, although other grilles (especially from 1930s Nashes and sometimes Hudson Terraplanes) can be used instead.

It's a striking look when it's done right, which this mostly is (although I'm not a big fan of the custom headlights on this one).

#2, More info and a bunch of pictures of genuine Westergard cars: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...9&showall=1

He built several more cars, and played with several variations of the look, using several different types of grilles....at least one of his cars wore a circa-1940 Packard grille.

Interesting link. Great post, sir. I'm looking at those, and thinking.. "why can't custom cars look that good today?"
